Buzzard Company formed in the summer of 2019, by songwriter Mike Mullarkey and drummer Matt Botting. After 2 years performing as a duo and recording full band demos at their home studio, 2021 saw the addition of bassist Jesse Linneman and guitarist Kasey Schake. Armed with dusty guitar licks, a keen sense of melody, Mullarkey’s growling tenor, and Botting’s dedicated rhythms, the quartet summons the giants of rock ‘n’ roll past while harnessing a singular sound rooted firmly in the present.
The Austin, TX outfit embodies the new breed of Heartland rock, drawing inspiration from the blues, garage rock, psychedelia, grunge, and americana. Buzzard Company’s razor sharp songwriting and earnest approach to their craft, when combined, amplify their blue collar spirit. There’s a cynical optimism in Mullarkey’s lyrics, reflecting both the anxiety of uncertain times and the unwavering hope that we will come out of this swinging.
